At page 29 the last paragraph. In this paragraph the author gave us a little bit the fact of what exactly a concentration camp was, and indicated that what Gretel saw was what Bruno said that was a hopeless place to ever live in. Compare to the movie that the boy live in Ghetto, that was a brief life however until those Nazi Germany came and capture all those Jews people. Because everyone who lived in Ghetto had pretty tough life that they were all weak and die without food.
The other quote was that Bruno kept disrupting his father while his father was working at all. However, to act as a child living in Ghetto, the feeling of Bruno as what a child in the Ghetto living. No one knows that what would be going on in the next few minutes, even next second, how they live for the entire life, they have no ideas. And the same as what Bruno thought, he had no idea that what his father’s job was and why he should live there for quite a long time though.
“Father held a hand in the air, which immediately caused the other men to fall silent.” Obviously in this quote, we can easily distinguish that Bruno’s father has holding a power of controlling those soldiers as he was the leader of them. However, in the Ghetto, assume that there would be a child living there, he might be controlled by Bruno’s father or even be captured by his father to be sent to the concentration camp and then later he might put to death. Therefore, the life in Ghetto was not easy as Bruno, because Bruno was also followed his father’s determinations and admitted all the things that his father told him to. So, that was pretty sad for Bruno seeing those people, well, as what his father said, they were not people at all since they lived in the concentration camp, would be hard for him to see through those Jews. Just like the cover of the book, both kids were sad about themselves since they met each other on both sides of the net.
